When I started working for Gulf Coast Wesley Foundation, they had just formed and had no established branding at all. My role with the organization included not only the operations and logistics side of things but also the communications, marketing, and fundraising side. In the years I worked for Gulf Coast Wesley, I produced countless brochures, promotional items, banners, e-newsletters, and social media posts/graphics. Most notably, I was responsible for establishing the brand and implementing it across our digital presence.
With the development of the logo, I tried to build something unique and represented the values and connections that the organization held. The icon in the logo is a play on the iconic “flame and cross” logo used by the United Methodist Church. Gulf Coast Wesley served as a mission of the methodist church to provide care and wellness services to the students at Florida Gulf Coast University. The stained glass effect was an intentional homage to the traditional church structure that existed before us and represented our strong values of social justice, diversity, and equality for all people.
I originally built the organization’s website while I was on staff, but later rebuilt it pro-bono as the new assistant was not a web designer. The current website serves primarily as a landing page for the organization, a place to gather leads from interested students, and a platform for donors to give.
